Too much exposure to sunrays produces a tanning effect on the skin. Many people think that a tan looks healthy, but in reality it is a sign of damaged skin. When skin is exposed to sun rays, there is an increase in skin pigment, called melanin in the body that causes change in skin color. Melanin is the same pigment that colors your hair, eyes, and skin. The increase in melanin may cause your skin tone to darken. With time this kind of skin damage can create vision problems, allergic reactions, depressed immune systems, and skin cancer.
